Save The Clocktower are a passionate, aggressive and meaningful post-hardcore band from Launceston, TAS. Forming out of the ashes of local bands This Future… Chaos and Hitman only two years ago, the band have supported some amazing interstate bands such as House Vs Hurricane, Mindset, The Abandonment, The Omen, Senses Fail (USA), Parkway Drive & Confession to name but a few.
So what’s happening lately?
Well, we have just released our second self-funded EP called “The Human Condition” and has lifted pretty well locally and nationally which is pretty damn cool, also shot a music video for one of the tracks at Breath of Life Festival.
So what started all this, how long you been playing tunes together?
Well we were all in bands together before this one and about 3 years ago we started Save The Clocktower. A year later we got a new vocalist and our original vocalist went to guitar, and that’s how it stuck.
Arguments, are they common during rehearsals?
Haha, rarely… But they do get a pretty exciting when it happens!
So why the name, what does it mean?
Save The Clocktower came from the movie “Back To The Future” we all dug it so it stuck!
Where do see the band in 5 years time?
Hopefully with a full length under our arm touring internationally!
What shows are coming up?
We have some exciting shows currently being sorted and locked in, still pretty much under raps though, but keep an eye out on our Facebook!!
Any LP/EP ‘s coming out soon?
Not at this point, just touring the stuff we just released, going to start writing some more material in the coming months though.
Any video clips online we can check out?
We have 2 music videos, 1 is for “It Ain’t Over ‘Till These Bones Are Picked Clean” and the other we just released is for “The Machine” both on our new EP. Both viewable on YouTube.
Who is you’re fav band you’ve shared the stage with, so far?
Probably have to say Northlane, solid, amazing live set, kindest dudes ever, watching them really influenced our new live set.
Got just one funny story you care to share from the road?
Putting empty goon bags under our clothes and playing sumos at an after party on Brisbane. Too much fun…
What about an embarrassing one?
Playing a show in our undies absolutely uselessly drunk at Canberra because about 20 people showed, the set also consisted of a song from a previous band we were in. Atrocious… Haha.
So who writes the lyrics and what do you guys mainly sing about?
Mostly our vocalist, but we all give our little part to improve or input to them. We just write about what’s happening around us or what’s happening in our lives, anything from mistakes in our youth, political and religious views, family and loss, just whatever we feel when we wrote some music.
Is anyone in any other bands, are those bands similar in style?
Nope, all faithful to the clock.
Got any shout outs you want to give?
All the bands we have toured with recently, pleasure to meet all of you, Jesse and Scotty @LUSY Productions for producing our music videos, Dave Venter @Fatlip Studios for helping us get the EP together, all our families and friends for the support and anyone who has had a dance at one of our shows or bought a CD or merch!!
