Their tour has been delayed but I assure you, they’re on their way! Murder By Death are an Indie Rock band based in Bloomington, Indiana and with 5 studio albums under their belt. So what’s happening in your world right now?
Well we were supposed to be on tour in Australia, but the tour was moved to May. So we are sitting at home wishing we were in Australia!
Why the name Murder By Death, what does it mean?
It doesn’t mean anything. I guess that’s whats funny about it. It is borrowed from the title of a goofy 1970s Neil Simon scripted murder mystery spoof. We just thought it was dark but funny.
So it’s been over 10 years now, who is you’re favourite band you’ve shared the stage with?
The Pogues. we did some dates with them when they first returned to the USA after a 15 year breakup. It was a big deal for me, as I had been listening to them since I was 11 years old. They treated us really well and even liked our band, which was so much more than I expected.
Got just one good story you care to share from tours?
I once rode an ironing board down several flights of hotel stairs like it was a surfboard. I used the legs as support. Then we shot fireworks across the street from our window into the open window of an old people’s home. We were drunk and dumb.
What about an embarrassing one?
Same story. embarressed about the fireworks.
On the road, what do you drink?
Bourbon! We are from bourbon country, so that’s what everyone around here drinks. We get it whenever we can.
