Cleave – The Circle EP

02/03/2012 in CD Reviews, Music

What you would expect from a punk band based in Tokyo is not this, I assure you, this is better! Cleave sound like a bunch of skater punks grew up on Epitaph / Fat Wreck in the 90′s and tried to perfect it. Well, bloody good job! If you like this kind of punk rock, you need this EP, I’m not saying that because I love the genre, I’m saying it because I love the music. Well toned guitars, vocals are raw with a rock punch and breakdowns with group shout outs that force you to sing along.

With three guitar players and influences ranging well beyond the world of melodic punk rock, Tokyo, Japan’s CLEAVE have truly put a unique and refreshing spin on the genre. Featuring 6 tracks of fast, melodic, and harmony-laden anthems, “The Circle” EP is sure to turn heads and please fans of quality, honest, and catchy-as-all-hell punk rock. Highly recommended for fans of Strung Out, Thrice, and No Use For a Name.
