Buried By The Sirens
Formed in June 2011 Blackpool 5 Piece Buried By The Sirens Have Been Tearing Up Venues Across The Uk, With The Recent Success Of There Debut Single ‘Conflicts’ Doubling There Fan Base With A Few Weeks And Their Signing To Uk Label Heads&Tails Records.
So what’s happening in your world right now?
Well we’ve recently released our 1st CD ‘Conflicts’, the response we’ve gotten has been amazing and we’re already hard at work writing new music, we’ve even started recording a new single for which we are planning a music video. The song is called ‘Reflections’.
How long have you guys been playing and how did you meet?
We’ve been ‘Buried By The Sirens’ since early 2011. Well, myself & Drummer/Backing Vocalist Laura Russell met at college and we found Lead Singer/Rhythm Guitarist Luke Melville through his older brother Cal, Who used to run the studio that we practiced at. Our Bassist/Backing Vocalist Kyle Knight was suggested to us by my sister, and he came to see us at one of our shows and we got talking to him and he joined the band soon after. Our Frontman/Lead Vocalist Matt Lawson came for an audition and he was the clear choice and we’ve been together as a band since.
Why the name, what does it mean?
We went through the phase of having loads of different name choices on paper and we all agreed on ‘Buried By The Sirens’. Sirens, being the mythological creatures that used their music to lure ships of men to their deaths; not the kind of siren you’d get on an ambulance.
Any plans to come to Australia?
Well I personally don’t have a passport (yet) but I think we’d all LOVE to travel to Australia; that would be amazing!

We have our official video for our 1st single ‘Conflicts’ on youtube, as well as a montage video for our song ‘Praying Won’t Part The Seas’. I’m sure there’s a few other videos of us on there messing about any such.
Who is you’re fav band you’ve shared the stage with, so far?
We’ve played with so many great bands! Demoraliser, Desolated, Horizons, Beyond Betrayal, but I personally loved playing with Silent Screams!
Got just one good story you care to share?
The 1st that springs to mind involves Drummer Laura Russell. We were in Preston, running to catch a train and we were carrying all our heavy equipment. We all managed to make it on the train except Laura, who didn’t quite make it and got trapped in the doors. She still had all her heavy cymbal bags on her back too so she was literally stuck and us as the lovely, caring people we are just stood there and laughed rather than come to her aid. Once she’d managed to wrestle herself out of the doors; she then proceeded to get trapped in the carriage-way doors.
What about an embarrassing story?
Well I can’t think of many really……At our last gig I tried to follow Matt & Kyle into the crowd and my lead came out, that was rather Embarrassing. That’s about as Embarrassing as I’ve experienced being in the band.
Who writes the lyrics, what do you guys mainly sing about?
Matt is the main lyricist, but we have all added lyrics here and there. I wouldn’t say our lyrics were too ‘out there’. Mainly just every day things that everyone experiences; Liars, cheaters, relationships.
Most people don’t like to be fit into a genre, but if you had to place your music in a CD shop, where would you put it?
I would say we are ‘Post-Hardcore’
Is anyone in any other bands, are those bands similar in style?
Laura also fronts a band called ‘Dead Winter’, they’re Metalcore. Luke DJ’s a lot and writes a lot of Dubstep.
