So, who is going to Sybreed? Then you’re going to run into these guys, lets just hope it’s not in a dark alley. Although Anno Domini have been in the metal scene for the past 6 years, their youngest members have only recently been legally allowed into the venues.
So what’s happening in your world right now?
Right now we are putting the finishing touches on our EP we’ve been working on for the past 3 months to have it ready for the Sybreed tour.
How long have you guys been playing and how did you meet?
We’ve all been playing together since high school and that’s where most of us met. We’ve been playing on the scene for around 6 years now.
Why the name, what does it mean?
We mainly chose it because we thought it was cool. In high school I brought a bunch of names on a pad to Danny and he thought Anno Domini just stood out from the other ones. In latin it means “In the year of our lord”, but to us it just means our collective musically.
Where do see the band in 5 years time?
Hopefully doing the same as we are now, having insane amounts of fun recording and playing live, it’s all about playing live!
What shows are coming up that you’re playing at?
We are going around the country with Sybreed for their national tour in March hitting Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, Ballarat, Warnambool, Geelong, Melbourne, Gosford, Newcastle, Gold Coast & Brisbane.
Any albums, ep’s released or coming out?
Yep, we have a 3 track EP coming out on 1/3/12 for free on the internet and it will be available at all the Sybreed shows too.
Any video clips online we can check out?
Sure, our youtube is www.youtube.com/annodominiband and we’ll be putting more and more videos up as the year goes on.
Who is you’re fav band you’ve shared the stage with, so far?
So far I’d say Mayhem from Norway. Their show was second to none and was just incredible to play with such an iconic band.
Got just one good story you care to share?
Definitely one of the best gigs I’ve played was when we were on our Atrocities tour in Ballarat and we were staying above the pub we were playing at. We got there really early to set up so we just had some dinner and a few beers turned into many vodkas and rums! It was the smallest stage and 1 of us always had to be on the floor cause there wasn’t enough room. When it came to the gig the crowd was insane and we all had the best time rocking out drunk as hell. I’ll never forget that.
What about an embarrassing one?
Probably just when we were younger and were late to a few shows, I remember running out of petrol once on the way to Tempe I think, it’s always embarrasing being late for load-in.
What do you guys mainly sing about?
Mainly our lyrics are about stories of man and all the shitty things that humans do to each other.
Most people don’t like to be fit into a genre, but if you had to place your music in a CD shop, where would you put it?
Straight in the Metal section or Death Metal.
Is anyone in any other bands, are those bands similar in style?
No one is in any other bands at the moment, we don’t have time for more really.
Got any shout outs you want to give?
Big shout out to Assidian, Rochelle & Fogz, Sybreed, Carl @ Pro Guitars and Sound, Butters & Jim @ Strictly 7 guitars.
